Wooden Pet Furniture: Packing and Freight Questions Before Quotation

A unit price alone does not explain the landed buying decision for a large wooden product. Before comparing quotations, buyers should make sure each supplier is quoting the same model, specification, packing basis and delivery scope.

1. Start with the assembled product

Confirm the exact model, complete dimensions, material and finish. Then ask whether the product is shipped assembled, partly assembled or flat-packed. The answer changes both the customer experience and the packing conversation.

  • Exact model and finish
  • Assembled product dimensions
  • Assembly method
  • Hardware and instructions included

2. Ask for the packing basis used in the quote

Request the current unit packing method, package dimensions and gross weight for the selected model. If these details are not yet confirmed, keep the freight estimate separate from the product quotation.

3. Protect the visible surfaces

For furniture-style products, corners, painted surfaces, doors and hardware may need different protection. Ask how the current packing addresses these parts instead of accepting a general statement that the product is export packed.

4. Compare quotations on the same delivery term

Record the Incoterm, destination and included charges. Two prices are not comparable if one is an ex-works product price and the other includes a different delivery scope.
